what is bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is one of most annoying problems for females especially in females in reproductive age , bacterial vaginosis considered to be one of sexual transmitted diseases.

Bacterial vaginosis characterized by foul fishy odor , it is considered one of  it’s characteristic symptoms, there are other symptoms like vaginal discharge , itching and also burning sensation.

Bacterial vaginosis is a result of imbalance in bacteria normally growing in female vagina , as by non understood mechanism , that normally growing flora is replaced by pathogenic or harmful bacteria,which result in that fishy discharge .

Bacterial vaginosis is most common in sexually active females , what the role of that in arising it , it not known up to that time , there are other ways of  transmission like multiple vaginal douching , in swimming pools , from toilets sets , so not only sexually active women who is only infected.

Bacterial vaginosis does not cause complication , but its risky for other infection , the most serious and most dangerous infection type is HIV , other vaginal infections like chylamdia , gardenalla , herps simplex and gonorrhea , these infections are serious , that can ascend to involve uterus , Fallopian tubes and cause PID ( pelvic inflammatory disease) , that disease may be complicated up to be one of infertility causes, but its a rare cause .

Bacterial vaginosis may affect pregnant females, and if that occur , her baby is at risk of getting that infection during labour, also female is at risk of getting preterm labor or low birth weight fetus.
